The Negative Way

The Capitalist System that controls and manipulates my life

is a vast economic web that controls every life in America

it’s designed to keep the population in chains of need

that forces everyone to comply with strategies of greed.  

The clothes we wear complies with the slave labor of the people

who toil 24/7 to make them; the food I eat complies with the 

degradation and suffering of migrant workers who work 24/7

to grow and harvest the food we eat. 

We comply with the abject misery of people who are 

carefully taught they are racially and socially beneath us

we comply with corporate consumerism even knowing that its

harmful effects poison the environment.  

And we comply with the system’s self-serving economic structure

that distributes our nation’s wealth only upward into the hands

of privilege and power. We are forced to comply with a system

that ignores the suffering of the poor in favor of the rich.  

The cyclical nature of the capitalist system is self-sustaining

and self-rewarding.  Its internal politics is hierarchical and elitist

and those of us who are trapped in its ever-expanding web of deceits

can discover no way out - and are forced to submit forever. 

To live a simple and non-toxic life is no longer possible

any concerns expressed for the poor and the middleclass

are dismissed as simplistic by an economic system that was put in

motion by Ayn Rand that is false, not simple, and very toxic.
