Everything throughout Creation has a soul
the heart of the universe beats from the center of its soul
a flower has a soul, a tree has a soul, an electron has a soul
the very ground we stand on is sacred and soul empowered
and everything in Creation is signed with godness.
No other creature in the universe must be taught
they have a soul except we human beings
why we are the exception is a troubling mystery
that confounds theologian, philosopher, and the wise
we take pride in our exception by brandishing it
as a weapon of dominance over our fellow creatures
mindlessly ignoring the destruction in our wake.
Everything throughout Creation is a prism through which
the light of the Cosmic Christ shines in the darkness
even in those of us who are blind to its shining.
