Shadow Self
The roots of the tree that entangles itself with the roots
of surrounding trees in the dark mysterious soil
is the shadow-self of the visible tree that reveals itself
upward into the light of day - proudly self-aware.
My shadow-self extends itself downward, trusting
no longer entangled with the phenomena of the visible world
it is the apophatic self of me, that from the corner of my eye
allows me to see the Presence hidden in the Cosmos.
