I leap into the unknown from the springboard
of my heart. I shut down the treadmill of my mind
and run the grace-filled race along the pathway
of my soul…trusting.
I dodge the traps of concepts and custom
and pay no heed to the siren calls of conformity
with their much-vaunted certitudes of a knowledge
that is beyond spiritual comprehension.
Along the way as I run I listen to a voice that can’t
be heard, and I seek a goal that can’t be seen except
with eyes focused on faith. And trust is my only guide
as I run the narrow path of the grace-filled race.
The sentinel cypresses from their silent green sanctuaries
cheer my pace, while a conspiracy of stars lights my path
and as I run, the unaffected joy of my youth returns
…and once again I see daisies in my footsteps grow.
