The day stars shine unnoticed in the haze
of the sun’s harsh stare. They shine outside
the range of eyes that are not designed
to see or focus on the hidden side of things.
They continue to shine in daytime’s glare
and calmly wait for the night’s dark kingdom
to reveal themselves as sparkling jewels
set in the black velvet of the day’s demise
to eyes still blinded by the sun’s harsh stare.
