Why do stars have to die, each one like a leaf
fallen from the vibrant tree of life?
At times my internal landscape is like a wasteland
of misjudged potentialities and misunderstood truths
when I choose not to grasp what all of nature proves
that death is indeed an irrevocable part of the process.
The multi-branching stems of the greening world
mirror the infinite branching and reach of the Cosmos
just as clouds of dust revealed in a ray of sunlight
mirrors the community of stars in a constellation
and when stars die, they are like leaves as they fall.
How is it possible when I am blinded by darkness
that I still can see surrounded by the darkness?
